Bio: Hello my name is Abi Raye. I was born and raised in Surrey, U.K, and moved to Kelowna, Canada in 2005. Shortly after receiving my Canadian citizenship in 2009, I was named to the National Field Hockey Team. I moved to Vancouver to train and study Kinesiology at UBC. 5 years later…. and I'm living and training in Vancouver and studying Kinesiology at UBC…… Since 2009, I have been involved in a number of tours and major Games including the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and the 2011 Pan American Games with the 2016 Olympic Games set firmly in my sights. I am one short year away from finishing my Kinesiology degree and have about a million different ideas about what I want to do with it. I live by the motto 'nothing ventured, nothing gained' and often find myself pulled in different directions and inspired by many passions and interests. My Grandma is a wonderful musician and artist and has inspired me to take on artistic interests. I enjoy sketching, but Grandma hasn't quite sold me on the painting scene. I dabbled in music, and taught myself guitar while recovering from a concussion (I did have a background in music from playing the clarinet to a high level in the U.K). And who isn't interested in photography these days. These are some of my smaller passions in my life and I hope to share some through this blog. As a whole, this blog is an attempt to share my experiences as a passionate athlete and determined student.
